What is open enrollment?

The annual time period during which Americans can buy exchange-based individual major medical health insurance plans for themselves and their families. You may be eligible to enroll in health insurance outside of open enrollment if you have certain life events, like getting married, having a baby, or losing other health coverage. This is known as a “special enrollment period.”
